Kantele Tourist Route of Ontrei Malinen (KA357)

Objective of the project

The objective of the project is to strengthen cross-border tourism by creating a new tourist route from Kainuu to Viena Karelia, called "Ontrei Malinen's Kantele Tourist Route", which will advance economic development in the area. The goal is to make the area more attractive for travellers, whether they come from Europe or Russia.

Main activities

• To set the OMK-route. • To create new culturally sustainable attractions and to support main attractions along the route. • To create a network for international marketing. • To support program and other services along the OMK-route.

Achievements

The Ontrei Malinen's Kantele Touristic Route has been set up, and a great deal of developing work has been done along the Route. This has created a new situation for the target group and beneficiaries: their opportunities in developing cultural tourism has significantly improved. The tourist enterprises have got better possibilities in trade and business, new attractions , improved services and increased income, the community has got more working opportunities on a sustainable basis and increased awareness of their own cultural history. The project has improved the tourist enterprises’ possibilities for international business. It has created attractions and improved the existing ones. It has developed the whole chain of services. It has given local administrations, organizations and enterprises a forum for the future cooperation.
