Finnish-Russian Forest Academy preparation (SE400)

Objective of the project

The main objective of the project was to support Finnish-Russian cooperation in research, education and innovations by founding an organization which will enhance cooperation, modernization actions in pulp and paper plants, and optimal use of wood material in Finnish and Russian forest industries. Objective was targeted by building the common ground and maps the needs of partners and other relevant organizations in foundation of Finnish-Russian Forest Academy, the organization contributing to Finnish-Russian research, education and innovation in forest based industry sector.

Main activities

- Survey and analyse of the needs and objectives of the partner institutions and relevant actors in the forest field. - Research cooperation to define most suitable methods to build common outcomes. - Establishing the CONIFER -network (Connecting Finnish-Russian Forest Sector Expertise aka Finnish-Russian Forest Academy)

Achievements

The CONIFER-network (Connecting Finnish-Russian Forest Sector Expertise aka the Finnish-Russian Forest Academy) was established accompanied by a description of its content (framework incl. target, key functions, organisation, funding, and members). Partners, associate partners and Finnish Forest Research Institute signed the Memorandum of Understanding of the project. The mentioned results will be further developed under the second phase – extension and piloting via ENPI funding (project SE688 implemented 2013-2014). During the project, the forest sector industry and all the relevant regional authorities were communicated in order to have a solid base for future development.
