Sustainable Buildings for the High North – Cross Border Research and Trade Facilitation (KO550)

Objective of the project

The project will increase cross border activity and development within sustainable building technology, cooperation and business for the high north. The specific objectives of the project will be to assist and facilitate specific activities, to gain experience and knowledge about how to get access to the vast market areas of Northwest Russia, and to how to increase technical knowledge and capacity.

Main activities

The project consisted of six main activities/topics, - Cross-Border business development of energy efficient building technologies, trade and distribution in the High North, - Mapping technical challenges in building technology and energy efficiency, - Mapping energy efficiency of buildings in the north - MCI (materials, constructions and installations) for sustainable buildings in northern areas, - New harmonized recommendations for buildings in the North, - VMA – Virtual Market Arena.

Achievements

The project did a lot of research: two master dissertations were written on the project. It has lifted attention towards energy efficiency in the building sector and uncovered new challenges. The project has been hosting several larger events and thus increased knowledge on its topics among large target groups.
