Researching demand and supply of tourist services in the North-West of Russia and Finland
Funded by Interreg II Karelia 1996-1999

Objective of the project

The objective of the project was to study the structure of demand and supply of tourist services in the border areas of the North-West of Russia and Finland, as well as in Finland in general at that moment and later. Based on the results of the study, the objective was to get an overall picture of the demand for tourism from Russia to Finland, to develop recommendations for target groups, on the development of tourism products and staff training, as well as on the development of marketing cooperation and the creation of joint tourism products and software services in several regions. The proposals were designed in such a way that they could be implemented throughout the country and so that each of the three regions of the Interreg Program (Barents, Karelia and South-East Finland) could take responsibility for development projects in their regions. Tenders for the prepared study plan were requested from 4-5 Finnish tourism consultants. A group of financial specialists selected a consultant, supervised and accepted his work.
