Objective of the project

A sole trader Carelian Wild Guys / Paavo Pakarinen owns a farm in the Musko area of Tohmajärvi municipality. The farming production of the farm had already been stopped at the time of the application. The applying company had been established in 1997 and had been in operation only a little more than a year at the time. It was organizing hunting, hiking fishing and snowmobiling trips and other related activities and services for special groups. The company was engaged in cooperation with the travel service producers of the Republic of Karelia and the operation was going to concentrate heavily on the Russian side of the border. Carelian Wild Guys was also at the involved in the MATIKKA-project, which promoted the fishing tourism of North Karelia. The objective of the project was to organize high quality nature trips to the Republic of Karelia and to hire an employee to work with the applicant and one full-time employee. With the project, the company´s service supply was tried to be improved, as well as the cooperation between nature tourist companies and authorities of North Karelia and the Republic of Karelia.
