Preconditions for establishing a new fertilizer and fodder plant in Juuka as a Finnish-Russian cooperation
Funded by Interreg II Karelia 1996-1999
Objective of the project
The project is a scheme for the development of a new factory and products aimed at creating new companies and conditions for their work. The aim of the project is to study the conditions of enterprises established in the Juuka commune for the production of bacteria (biofilm) used in the production of fertilizers and fodder. Gamma Group, a Russian cooperation partner, has produced bacterial biofilm that has been used to improve the health and digestion of humans and animals. The bacterium has already proven its usefulness in various industries such as dairy and meat, as well as in reducing the mortality of young animals. Biofilm has also been used for the prevention and rehabilitation of antibiotics. The project explored the prerequisites for the establishment of fertilizer and fodder plants, especially in relation to biological products and substances that will improve the landscape and the use of surplus products from the grocery industry. Thanks to the fodder, which allowed the use of new forms of production, the possibilities of large-scale breeding of sables were studied, as well as the possibility of using Puljonki Oy's knowledge and technologies in Russia. Three companies from Juuka commune took part in the project: Gold Safir Ltd., Puljonki Ltd. and Juuan Dolomiittikalkki Ltd.
