Main road 866 Sirola crossroads–Jussinpuro
Funded by Euregio Karelia Neighbourhood Programme 2001-2006

Objective of the project

Main road 866 is a regional road that leads to Russia through the Kortesalmi border crossing point. The timber transport traffic on the road from Paanajärvi to Finland was expected to increase significantly once the road improvement project on the Russian side of the border was complete. Bringing the entire road section up to the condition necessary to meet the requirements was seen as improving the reliability of deliveries as well as decreasing transport costs. 50 percent of the project funding was received from the European Regional Development fund and 50 percent from the Finnish Road Administration.
