Main road 866 Jussinpuro–Pahalampi

Objective of the project

Main road 866 leads to Russia through the Kuusamo border crossing point. The road is 46 km long and it bears logging traffic from Paanajärvi in the direction of Finland. The road has been improved along several different sections since 1995. The improvement work was completed to prepare for the needs of traffic crossing the border when the Kuusamo border crossing point was to become international. This application was in reference to a five-and-a-half-kilometre Jussinpuro–Pahalampi section.

Achievements

Construction began on Nov 3, 2003 and the completion date in the contractor agreement was Sept 30, 2004. The project was mostly completed as stated in the contractor agreement. Roadway markings were the only thing still being completed during the first week of October. The project receipt inspection was completed in March of 2004.
