Objective of the project
The objective of the project is to create a new model of serving library patrons.
Main activities
• Creation and implementation of an educational programme. • Establishing information and cultural centers in Petrozavodsk, Kondopoga, Sortavala, Kostomuksha, Joensuu and Kajaani. • Creation of multimedia resources and a permanent book exposition. • Creation of a training center for library specialists.
Achievements
Running of a joint Russian-Finnish educational program: Transformation of library role in local communities in the minds of the project participants and establishment and duplication of a new library model as a center of development of local communities. Establishment of four information and cultural centers in Petrozavodsk, Kondopoga, Sortavala and Kostomuksha and two Karelian Corners in Joensuu and Kajaani: strengthening of mutual understanding among people on both sides of the border, providing open access to cultural and information bilingual resources, transformation of libraries to a space of creative development and realization of common ideas on both sides of the border.
