“Karelian Carnival”

Objective of the project

The objective of the project “Karelian Carnival” was to organize an annual international tourism event in Joensuu, which could be divided into several other small events in the North Karelia region. Another objective was product development, production and commercialization of tourism services and new small events. The event of 1999 was going to be unique in terms of government funding, its goal was to turn the tourism business of Joensuu and Petrozavodsk into a single network capable of meeting the needs of international tourist flows. In the process of organizing the event, the main attention was planned to be paid to the development of tourism products in the Joensuu region and the Republic of Karelia, and, in addition to the development of services, commercialization of new Karelian tourism innovations would take place, which would create new products and services for existing companies, and would contribute to the emergence of new companies.
