Objective of the project
Improved prerequisites to launch educational programmes for road professionals.
Main activities
• A startup meeting and comparative analysis work. Analysis of the road network within the project territory with interviewing of responsible actors of road sector in Finland and Republic of Karelia: authorities, decision makers, experts, road professionals. • Assessment of the impact of the road network state on the economy of the territories, business development, investment attractiveness of the territories. It is carried out on all main roads located on the project territories, using statistical data, mathematical models, and analysis of the experience of other territories. Analysis work also includes interviews among SME's in programme area. • Open survey among relevant road sector specialists and professionals including some keypersons and next level engineers to find out their need for further education followed by its further analysis.
Achievements
The project revealed and enabled comparison and assessment of the current situation on cross-border and other road networks within the project’s area of Finland and the Republic of Karelia, including their development, condition, quality of maintenance, capacity, traffic safety and the factors’ influence on the economy and business of territories, accessibility and connectivity of the territories. Project analytical work revealed barriers and bottlenecks that are connected with the road network and negatively affecting cross-border economic interaction, factors that impede trade development and investment attractiveness of the territories.
