From builder to eastern builder – a programme for construction professionals

Objective of the project
The main partner of the project was Nurmes Training Center. The purpose of the project was to connect the knowledge of the construction industry in the Pielinen Karelia, the interests of the entrepreneurs and the Russian connections and knowledge of the educational institutions. In addition, there was an objective to create certain knowledge to the participants so that they could act in Russian culture as the experts of the language, the professional glossary, the management and the construction after the education. They were also going to be able to export their know-how to the Republic of Karelia and therefore strengthen their position in the local company and labour markets. In the project, 15 professionals from the construction industry and 2 teachers from the Nurmes Learning Centre and the department of Lieksa of the North Karelia Adult Education Centre were going to complete the training programme. Apart from the training, the project was going to include the mapping of the needs of the export network and the establishing of a eastern export company specialised in the complete construction, based on a networking principle. Every person and company participating in the training was going to compose their own operational plan for the future operations in Russia. The project partners were the construction committee of the Republic of Karelia, the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Karelia, the Vocational School No. 14 of the Republic of Karelia and entrepreneurs of the Petrozavodsk´s construction sector.
