Exploiting Municipal and Industrial Residues (SE748)

Objective of the project

The overall objective of the Project included several tasks: Decrease the environmental load of the pollutants to the ecosystem and general improvement of the common ecological conditions in the city of St. Petersburg and in the surrounding Leningrad region, Organization of the thematic seminars in order to disseminate information about the practical improvements and environmental conservation measures which help to increase ecofriendly economic activity in both countries.

Main activities

- Development of sludge treatment and utilization in Leningrad region. - Development of water/wastewater treatment in Leningrad Region and St. Petersburg with a novel energy efficient pulsed corona discharge technology. - Knowledge exchange in waste management and waste utilization in the Leningrad Region and South-East Finland.

Achievements

Among the most significant final results of the implemented activities are the following: Study of Russian and EU legislation and demands for waste treatment use, Scientific assessment of the industrial waste treatment, Organization of seminars for knowledge exchange, Study and analysis of the waste water treatment in the city of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region, Questionnaire survey to the experts in Leningrad region as well as in Finland and organization of the training seminar for the project’s stakeholders.
