Development of Ukkohalla-Paljakka area

Objective of the project

Ukkohalla Tourist Centre is located in Hürynsalmi, while Paljakka Tourist Centre is located in Puolanka. The geographical distance between the centres is 25 km. Development and investment plans have been prepared for this area (Ukkohalla-Paljakka 2000 Strategy). The goal of the Strategic Implementation Program is to transform the Ukkohalla-Paljakka area into a national tourism centre. The aim of the project is to study the knowledge of tourism and business economics, as well possible need for training of companies and authorities of these regions. The project contributes to the development of the tourism environment, revealing the tourism experience of the region. According to the international marketing strategy of Ukkohalla-Paljakka, the region is focused on Russian tourists. It is necessary to determine the level of Eastern experience in the region and how it can be developed. For example, when developing customer service, it is necessary to take into account the different cultural mentality of Russian customers and the level of service requirements. The project manager with extensive experience in tourism will be hired with a two-month temporary contract.
