Development of cross-border e-tourism framework for the programme region (KA322)

Objective of the project

To increase regional tourism attractiveness by developing e-tourism solutions using state-of the-art information technologies. The e-tourism framework and applications, developed in the Project, were targeted to foster the use of regional infrastructure and services, increase organized tourism, and facilitate tourism marketing activities.

Main activities

• Application development: Selecting and specifying the ideas for new applications and services and then developing the selected applications. • Dissemination of the developed framework and applications: The regional tourist companies are informed about the project results and how to benefit from their use in business activity. End users are also informed about the project results so that they may use the applications both before and during the travel.

Achievements

During the project ten new e-Tourism solutions for regional application were developed. Also significant contributions and functionality extensions to Geo2Tag platform were made and the platform is now used in multiple applications and use-cases in the region. This development of the open-source platform facilitates development of location-based services by other teams in the programme area and beyond, including further development of regional e-Tourism infrastructure.
