Development and marketing of Paljakka-Ukkohalla area, 1 phase, 1999-2000
Funded by Interreg II Karelia 1996-1999
Objective of the project
The Ukkohalla Tourist Centre is located in Hyrynsalmi, while Paljakka Tourist Centre is located in Puolanka. Tourism services and marketing in these two areas are primarily targeted at Russian tourists. Within the project, the services of the centres were studied and detailed information about the products was collected, as well as the functionality of the product was provided. For companies, Internet pages have been created where products can be promoted and sold. The web pages contain 3D product images and descriptions in Finnish and Russian. A travel agency brochure in A4 format in Finnish and Russian has been prepared for companies. Holiday residents of the same type and operating in the same area are collected in one brochure, making them easy to sell for large groups. The brochures are permanent with no change in pricing information and are also available on the Internet. Signs to centres and residential areas are designed to match the demands of international clients. Road signs in the area will be reviewed and updated. It was planned to issue a general booklet to be popularized on Russian markets. Year-round tourism in the area has been enhanced by the creation of summer products such as mountain biking, horse riding, fishing and water trails. Quality is controlled by providing customers with a feedback form, and a personal meeting is organized with each company for feedback. It is planned to visit the fair of the tourism industry in Russia. The project was organized jointly with the Kainuu Inteactive project.
