Days of Kainuu II in St.Petersburg Housing Fair 2000

Objective of the project

In the fall of 2000, the first international housing fair in Russia took place in St. Petersburg. It was located on the Karelian Isthmus in Repino. The city of Kajaani participated in the design of the fair, where it realized its export of construction know-how for the Interreg project. The practical organization of the exhibition was the responsibility of the Finnish-Russian corporation SP IHE Ltd. Almost half a million visitors were expected there. Entrepreneurs from Kainuu built the so-called "Kainuu House". Around 15-20 companies from Kainuu took part in the construction of the house, the house is finished as comprehensively as possible with building materials and products from Kainuu. Once completed, the house will be used to present the achievements of the Kainuu region in the construction industry. Kainuu House is regarded as a brand of construction exports from Kainuu to Russia. It makes a significant contribution to the eastern trade of the Kainuu construction companies. In connection with the Repino Housing Fair, the Council of the Kainuu Region, together with the Kainuu municipality and businesses, is organizing the so-called “The Kainuu Days II”, a marketing event that broadly presents the business services offered by the Kainuu region and the opportunities for companies in the Russian market. Marketing events are held at the “Kainuu House”. Events are organized by industry. About 30 exhibitors such as "Puu-Kainuu", "Matkailu-Kainuu", "Elektroniikka-Kainuu", "Metalli-Kainuu", "Elintarvike-Kainuu", "Käsityö-Kainuu", "Kulttuuri-Kainuu" and others will take part in the fair. An Expert seminar with important representatives of the state and economic life of Finland and Russia will be organized.
