Cross-Border Photonics Initiative (SE691)
Funded by South-East Finland - Russia ENPI 2007-2013
Objective of the project
Objectives of the project were fostering photonics technologies for economic growth, increasing cross-border collaboration between universities and photonics companies, building synergies between universities and high-tech companies in photonics and optics and identification and promotion of regional expertise and application-driven networks in photonics.
Main activities
- Development of Cross-Border Collaboration in Photonics Education - Innovation and Research in Photonics Technologies - Technological and Industrial Development in Photonics Technologies - Infrastructure/Information - Project Management & Dissemination
Achievements
The project resulted further development in strengthening and increasing the cross-border cooperation between universities as well as with the companies operating in the field of photonics and optics. The following concrete results were reached: UAV flight testing for border area surveillance, double Master’s degree programmes between the partner universities and lastly the strengthening of networking and cooperative links between the partners and organisations of the thematic workshops, seminars and conferences. Searching for and identifying possible partners and clients in the field of photonics and the development of a database of photonics- and optics-related companies in St Petersburg created a basis for the sustainable development of the funded activities.
