Creating cross-border business opportunities for Aqua-Culture (AC) SMEs through adaptation of innovative IoT and Modern Information Technologies (mIT).

Main activities

• Identification of Barriers and Opportunities – Perform feasibility study on identification of economic and business barriers in AC industry, technological problems and IoT&mIT opportunities. • AC IoT/mIT Use-Cases – Implement IoT/mIT solutions as use-cases of AC SMEs. • Business Synergy Portal Development – Implement Business Synergy Portal. • Communication and Dissemination – Build awareness about available IT and IoT business solutions among SMEs and large companies on both sides of the border, minimize modern technologies awareness barrier. • Project Management – Efficient, smooth and timely implementation of the project execution plan, communication plan and coordinating all planned project activities.

Achievements

The goal of the project is achieved by adopting existing modern information technologies and the Internet of Things, developing ready-to-use solutions with a focus on supporting technological operations, online monitoring and control of water pollution, informing enterprises about developed solutions and IT/IoT capabilities, creating a cooperation network and developing the Business Synergy Portal. The project is focused on improving the capabilities of aquaculture enterprises, increasing competitiveness and reducing environmental impact. From the very beginning, the project was carried out in close cooperation with fish farmers and managers of aquaculture farms and other stakeholders of the aquaculture sector of Karelia. By virtue of the contacts set up with the help of the partners AS and CCRK, we receive the necessary information on technologies and business processes used in cage fish rearing and recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS), as well as on existing problems in the area of technologies and the area of interaction with colleagues from Finland. Technology demonstrators were developed – fishfarm management software and wireless thermoximeter sensors. The project attracted the attention of fish-farmers to the new technologies; how the Internet of Things and the modern Information Technologies can improve business, increase competitive abilities and reduce environmental impact. Having that, the results of the project promise to be sustainable and highly sought. We made very important contacts during the project implementation and gained experience to continue our work in aquaculture.
